About Patty Halligan
“My winding path to artistic expression has shaped me, making this moment feel both earned and perfectly timed.”
Patty Halligan was born in Prince Edward County — a place known for its nature, its beaches, and its tight-knit community spirit. That sense of warmth and connection has followed her everywhere since.
After settling in Kingston, Patty discovered painting through her art teacher Carol Leonard, who taught her that creativity is about curiosity and spontaneous adventure. Those early lessons have never left her.
Patty went on to build a 35-year career as a registered nurse — years spent immersed in care, compassion, and the realities of life. It was during COVID that she returned to painting, inspired in part by the patients she had cared for. Her life experiences as a nurse and mother form the basis for her creative endeavours.

Patty paints in acrylics on canvas, and she paints with intention. Over time she moved away from detailed, precise work toward something looser, bolder, and more alive. She wanted her paintings to feel the way a good day feels — bright, full of colour, impossible to ignore. She is drawn to florals, to everyday objects, to the small things that catch the light. She paints because it makes her happy, and because that happiness has a way of travelling straight off the canvas and into the room.
